
Ex-minister's luxury car seized after 40-km chase; driver, another held in Lalmonirhat

In Lalmonirhat a car worth nearly one crore taka was chased for about 40 kilometers and later stopped by locals. The car belonged to Motahar Hossain, a former junior minister for Primary and Mass Education.
On Monday (June 16), the car started from Dolapara area in Hatibandha. Locals suspected it was being taken to Dhaka for Eid. They began chasing it when they saw it on the road.
The chase went all the way to Kakina area in Kaliganj. There, people managed to stop the car near a petrol pump.
Police arrived quickly, seized the car, and arrested two people—the driver, Kajal Chandra Roy, and his assistant. Both are now in police custody.
The officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station, Selim Malik, said that the car is under investigation and they are looking into why it was being moved.
