Abrar Al Amin, Ramu, Cox’s Bazar

Three people, including a father and his son, were killed and at least 10 others injured in a road accident on Monday (June 16) morning in the Rashidnagar area of Ramu, along the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway.

The collision occurred around 8:00 am when a Dhaka-bound covered van collided head-on with a Chattogram-bound Purabi Paribahan bus, according to Ramu Crossing Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nasir Uddin. The impact caused the bus to overturn and veer off the road.

“All of the deceased were passengers on the bus,” said OC Nasir Uddin, citing eyewitness accounts.

The deceased were identified as Habibub Ullah, 55, a businessman from Dakshin Patli area of PMkhali in Cox’s Bazar; his 9-year-old son, Md. Riyad; and Rimjhim Barua, a resident of East Rajarkul in Ramu.

At least 10 others sustained injuries and were taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for treatment. The on-duty physician confirmed that they are receiving care.

Ramu Police Station OC Md. Taibur Rahman said the bodies have been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue and that legal procedures are underway.
