The highly anticipated three-day multicultural street festival, 'Taste of Lawrence,' commenced in Toronto on Friday (July 4), drawing massive crowds, including a remarkably vibrant presence from the local Bangladeshi expatriate community.

The premier food and cultural festival, which runs from July 4 to July 6, celebrates the rich, tapestry of global cultures thriving in the city.

The annual event was initiated under the leadership of Toronto City Councillor and former Deputy Mayor Michael Thompson. Toronto City Mayor Olivia Chow graced the occasion as the chief guest, welcoming thousands of attendees representing different ethnic backgrounds.

Hundreds of visitors from the Bangladeshi community participated in the festivities, showcasing their heritage through traditional attire, food, and interactions. AK Azad, General Secretary of the Bengali Town Business Association of Toronto, attended the festival as an invited guest.

In a joyful and engaging atmosphere, Azad held discussions with Mayor Chow and Councillor Thompson, highlighting various aspects of Bangladeshi culture, heritage, and the contributions of the community to the economic and social fabric of Toronto.

The distinguished guests were deeply enthralled by the lively cultural representation and active involvement of the Bangladeshi diaspora.

Expressing their gratitude to the community members, Mayor Chow and Councillor Thompson highly praised their enthusiasm and expressed hope that the Bangladeshi community would continue to hold such dynamic activities to enrich Canada’s multicultural landscape in the years ahead.
