Eight Bangladeshi journalists join Indigenous Language Journalism Confce in Kathmandu

Eight Bangladeshi journalists have left for Kathmandu to attend the 3rd International Indigenous Language Journalism Conference 2026, scheduled for August 9–12.
The four-day event, themed "Indigenous Language Journalism for Cultural Diversity, Climate Justice and Inclusive Democracy", is organized by the Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Nationalities Journalists with support from the SAARC Journalist Forum.
The Bangladesh delegation is led by Shihabur Rahman, General Secretary of SJF Bangladesh Chapter and Head of Online snd Multimedia at The Financial Express_.
Other delegates include editors and senior correspondents from The Daily Bongobani, The Daily Ajkal, Daily Bank Bima Arthoniti, The Daily Ajker Probhat, The Daily Amor Bangla and Channel S Television Online. SJF Central Secretary General Md. Abdur Rahman is also accompanying the team.
Journalists, researchers and media professionals from around 30 countries will take part. The program includes panel discussions, paper presentations, a cultural procession, and visits to heritage sites.
Organizers say the conference aims to strengthen Indigenous language journalism and promote its role in policy and cultural preservation.
