
Robbery, abduction of school students on Eidgarh-Eidgaon road

In a brazen daylight robbery, three passengers, including a school student, were abducted during a highway robbery on the Eidgarh-Eidgaon road in Ramu upazila early Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 7:00 am at Himchhari Dhala, where a group of armed, masked robbers ambushed two CNG-run auto-rickshaws and a fish-laden vehicle by blocking the road with felled trees.
Among those abducted were Md. Shahed (18), son of Shahjahan from Ward No. 3, Ghuinya Para of Eidgarh Union; Amir Sultan (16), a 10th-grade student at Eidgarh Amir Mohammad Badi Uddin High School and son of Alam of Fatemar Ghona; and Kuddus, a cook at Zaman Hotel in Chakaria upazila.
According to local businessman Jamal, the robbers looted valuables from passengers before taking the three hostages at gunpoint into the nearby hilly forest. One CNG vehicle managed to flee the scene, but the other two were fully looted.
Incidents of robbery and abduction on this route have become increasingly common, causing fear and frustration among commuters. Locals and passengers are demanding enhanced police patrols and urgent action to ensure their safety.
