Chandpur's Nafis Ul Haq Shifat shines on global stage as emerging computer scientist

Mohammad Nafis Ul Haq Shifat, a native of Chandpur, has emerged as a promising computer scientist and technologist on the international stage, currently pursuing higher studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States.
Shifat hails from the Molla Ghar Public Library area in Chandpur town. He completed his primary and secondary education at Hasan Ali Government Primary School and Hasan Ali Government High School respectively, before completing his higher secondary education in the science stream at Chandpur Government College.
His academic and competitive trajectory includes winning bronze medals for Bangladesh in two consecutive years at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in 2021 and 2022. Following these international accolades, Shifat secured admission to MIT’s undergraduate computer science program in 2023 with a full scholarship.
Alongside his academic pursuits, Shifat has gained practical research and engineering experience in artificial intelligence and computational technology, including work with the global AI infrastructure startup DeepInfra. His research endeavors encompass developing smart-watch sensing systems designed to detect human mental states.
Besides, Shifat is an active competitive programmer using the handle 'qwerty190' on Codeforces, where he solved over 800 algorithmic challenges and achieved the rank of Candidate Master.
