Accused in 28 cases arrested while fleeing from check post in Moulvibazar

A man named Milton Sarkar (49), who is accused in 28 cases, including a stolen motorcycle, has been arrested by the detective police while fleeing a check post in Moulvibazar.
On Monday (September 15), at around 3:45 am, the DB police arrested the accused from in front of Noor Foods and Restaurant on Habiganj Road in Srimangal town.
Police said that while operating a check post on the Srimangal-Habiganj highway at around 3:45 am on Monday night, a police officer signaled a motorcycle without a number plate to stop. At that time, the motorcycle driver ignored the signal and tried to turn in the opposite direction and escape.
Later, he was arrested in a raid led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Azizul Gaffar of Moulvibazar District Detective Police.
When asked to show the motorcycle's legal documents after the arrest, Milton Sarkar could not show any legal documents. He was questioned as his words were suspicious. Later, at around 4:15 am, the blue-black Yamaha 155 cc motorcycle without a number plate was seized in front of the witnesses present, the estimated value of which is 4 lakh 50 thousand taka, according to the police.
Detective police sources said that during the initial investigation, they found out that the arrested accused is an active member of a professional and organized gang of thieves and one of the main leaders of this gang. For a long time, he had been stealing motorcycles from different parts of the country including Sylhet, Chittagong, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Narayanganj, Narsingdi and selling them to unknown smugglers. He uses different names at different times. Sometimes he introduces himself as Milton Kumar Saha, sometimes Milton Sarkar, and sometimes Md. Sohel.
District Detective Branch OC Sudipto Shekhar Bhattacharya said that a total of 28 theft cases are currently pending in court against the arrested accused, including 21 in Chittagong, 5 in Moulvibazar, and various police stations including Brahmanbaria, Narayanganj and Narsingdi.
Meanwhile, on January 2 of this year, Milton Sarkar was arrested from Bharaura, Srimangal Upazila, by the Moulvibazar District Detective Branch of the Police along with two stolen motorcycles and the equipment used in the theft.
