Two people died of electrocution, suicide in Betagi

Two people have died in separate incidents in Betagi, Barguna. A housewife named Shirina Begum (44) committed suicide by consuming gas tablets to kill rice pests in the afternoon. The incident took place in Kayalghata village of Mokamia union of the upazila.
 
According to police and local sources, Shirina Begum consumed gas tablets to kill rice pests at her husband's residence. After consuming the tablets, she vomited and was taken to the nearby Mirzaganj Upazila Health Complex. When her condition deteriorated there, the doctor on duty referred her to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Later, she died at 2:30 pm in the Subidkhali area on the way to Barisal. Later, the family brought the body back home. The reason for the suicide was not immediately known.
 
On the other hand, a young man named Raju (25) died after being electrocuted in Kazirabad Union at 9 pm while charging an autorickshaw.
 
The incident took place behind the post office in Chandkhali Bazar of Kazirabad Union of the upazila. The deceased, Raju, is the son of the deceased Razzak Farazi of Chandkhali area. After the incident
 
He was taken to Barguna General Hospital.
After being taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty, Dr. Nihar Ranjan, declared Raju dead after conducting examinations.
 
 
Betagi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Harun-or-Rashid Hawlader acknowledged the two incidents and said that action has been taken according to the law.
 
He also said that after the incident, the injured youth was taken to Barguna General Hospital, where he died.
