5 persons including two human traffickers arrested in BGB raid in Satkhira

Five people including two human traffickers were arrested in a separate operation of BGB in Satkhira.

They were arrested from Padmashakhra and Hizaldi border under Satkhira 33 BGB Battalion. The arrested are from Padmashakhra village of Satkhira Sadar Upazila human trafficker Md. Jasim Uddin (38), son of Shamsuddin Gazi, Md. Bilal Hossain (23), son of Asadul Sardar of Laxmidari village and Dhur Md. Shamchuzzaman (39), son of Abdul Majid of the same village. They were detained from the Padmashakhra border at around 3 am on Friday.

Meanwhile, BGB members arrested 2 Bangladeshi citizens (1 female and 1 male) while illegally crossing the Hizaldi border of Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira at around 4 am on the same day. They are Moushumi (34), daughter of deceased Shamsul Molya of Ramkrishnapur village of Jajira police station in Shariatpur district. She is currently a resident of Akkel Mahmud Munsi Kandi area. The other arrested person is Md Mamun (33), son of deceased Ayanal Uddin of Rudrabana village of Alfadanga police station of Faridpur district.

Director and Captain of Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB) Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque (PBGM, PSC, G) presented this information to reporters at a press conference at the battalion headquarters at 11 am on Friday.

Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque said, based on secret information, Bangladeshi nationals will illegally arrive in India from a place called Shamshan, 50 yards from the responsible border pillar 2/1-S of Padmashakhra BOP of Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB) inside Bangladesh. After receiving the news, a smart raiding team under the leadership of BOP Naib Subedar Amir Hossain and SIP member Habildar Md. Anwar strategically took position at the said place. At that time, when 03 persons arrived at that place with 02 motorcycles, the patrol team arrested broker Md. Jasim Uddin (38), Md. Bilal Hossain (23) and Dhur Md. Shamsuzzaman (39) from there. The estimated value of 2 seized motorcycles is four lakh taka.

Colonel Md. Ashraful Haque also said, During preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted to entering India illegally. Quoting the local members of the permanent address of the arrested persons and local dignitaries, the BGB captain said that the arrested persons are involved in drug smuggling.

The detained persons have been handed over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station for the crime of crossing the border illegally without passport. BGB captain Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque said that two persons named Moushumi (34) and Md. Mamun (33) were arrested during the illegal crossing of Hijaldi border in Satkhira district's Kalaroa upazila.

They entered India illegally on 01 August 2024 through Jessore border area.

Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque said that the two arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been handed over to Kalaroa police station in Satkhira district for illegally crossing the border.
