Magbari market is resplendent with Gomti char's fresh vegetables

Magbari market in Cumilla was built in the 2nd ward of the city. Gomti river is two kilometers away. The morning market is resplendent with Char's fresh vegetables. 35 years ago, the market was established by the hands of Charer vegetable sellers.

Businessmen have demanded to increase some facilities including toilets. A long vegetable market can be seen on the surface. The market sits between 7-8 am. Busy till 10-11 am. Farmers from the Gomti River brought vegetables on bicycles, rickshaws and vans. Someone brought gourd, eggplant. Someone brought pumpkin, six hundred.

Vegetables come from Nimasar market in pickup vans. As the market is next to the residential area, women also come to the raw market on foot. The local buyer is veteran educationist Zahirul Haque Dulal. House is walking distance to Bishnapur. Go for a walk in the morning. He came to the market on foot. Physical exercise is also done, along with buying fresh vegetables.

He is happy to get fresh vegetables every day. Being local vegetables, the price is relatively low. He said, at the corner of Mogbari Chaumuhni, some Gomti char vegetables used to come. Next to where the fish market is now. It was empty there 35 years ago. A few fishmongers also lived there. There was a grocery and tea shop at the intersection. Vegetable seller Abul Hossain of Shimailkhara and Chandina. Mohsin said, the vegetable market is held here every day at 7 am. Most of the vegetables in the market are from local cattle.

The rest comes from Nimsar market in Cumilla . They said, there is a shortage of toilets here. Familiar homes or mosques can be used around noon. Local salon businessman Balram Babu said, 35 years ago this area was not so crowded.

It was very quiet like a village. People of Kaptan Bazar, Chhotra, Bishnapur, Kaliajuri and Bhatpara areas market from this market. 2nd Ward Councilor Golam Sarowar Shipon said, Magbari is a famous market in this area. Basically, the vegetable market is crowded in the morning.

Various shops including grocery, medicine, salon, laundry are built around this market. It is not a listed market of City Corporation. However, we will try to solve various problems including public toilets for the convenience of traders.
