National Legal Aid Day celebrated in Sandwip

Various programmes were held in Sandwip on the occasion of National Legal Aid Day - 2025.
On the occasion of the Day, a colourful rally was taken out from the court premises at 10 am. Everyone participated in the rally wearing white T-shirts. The rally circled the main road of the upazila and ended at the Upazila Parishad premises. This time the theme of the day was "There is no joy in conflict, compromise brother, legal aid is next to you, no worries". After that, a discussion meeting was held at the Sandwip Lawyers' Auditorium highlighting the significance of the day.
On April 28, at 10:30 am, the meeting organized jointly by the National Legal Aid Organization, Legal Aid Committee and Upazila Chowki Court was presided over by Sandwip Senior Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Belal Hossain. The discussion was moderated by Upazila Legal Aid Committee Secretary Advocate Manjurul Amin and the welcome address was delivered by Sandwip Bar Association Senior Vice President Advocate Nizamuddin. Among others, the speakers were - Sandwip Police Station Officer-in-Charge AKM Shafiqul Alam Chowdhury, Sandwip Bar Association President Senior Advocate Hefjul Kabir, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Manas Biswas, Upazila Social Service Officer Mohsin Alam, Upazila LGED Engineer Abdul Alim, Upazila Women's Affairs Department Training Officer Abdul Khalek, Sandwip Region Head of Non-Governmental Development Organization Negra Kori Matiar Rahman,
The speakers said in their speeches - Legal Awareness should be created among the litigants about getting assistance, along with the necessary legal reforms to resolve the cases as soon as possible by overcoming the weaknesses of legal delays and various complications, otherwise, the suffering of the litigants will not end.
The organizers said that April 28 was declared as the 'National Legal Aid Day' in 2013 to provide legal assistance to the financially insolvent, helpless and various socio-economic reasons unable to get justice.
The day is celebrated with due respect every year with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm to promote and expand the government's legal aid programs. Like every year, this year too, we thank and express our gratitude to everyone present at our event today as part of celebrating 'National Legal Aid Day-2025' with due respect at the local level.
