A policeman named Kamruzzaman (30) was seriously injured by the accused in Narayanganj district.

The injured policeman Kamruzzaman is currently undergoing treatment at the capital's heart institute. Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter on Tuesday afternoon.

Before this, the incident took place in front of the Victoria Jame Masjid located at the city's Gymkhana intersection on Monday night. The injured policeman Kamruzzaman is working at Madanganj police outpost of Bandar upazila of Narayanganj district.

Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shihab said that policeman Kamruzzaman went to the spot to arrest the accused in a case on Monday around eight o'clock. At that time accused Babu (22) hit his right wrist with a knife and ran away.

Later, fellow policemen rescued the injured Kamrazzaman in critical condition and took him to a local hospital where he was given first aid. From there, the injured Kamruzzaman was taken to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital and was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Later, he was admitted to the Heart Institute for treatment from there.

In this regard, Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam said that the injured policeman Kamruzzaman is currently undergoing treatment at Rajdhani Heart Institute. Legal action is pending in this case. Further action will be taken as per instructions of higher authorities.

Hefajat leader Mamunul incident : Case after 3- yr against 128 in Sonargaon

Three years after the hefajat incident at Royal Resort in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj district, a case has been filed against 128 people including Narayanganj District Superintendent of Police Zayedul Alam, two former parliamentarians Nazrul Islam Babu and Abdullah Al Qaiser.

Maulana Shajahan Shibli, member of Hefajat Islam Sonargaon branch, filed the case at Sonargaon police station on Monday night. Sonargaon police station OC Mohammad Abdul Bari confirmed the case.

In this case, the former ADC of Motijheel Zone of Dhaka Atiqul Islam Murad, the former executive officer of Sonargaon Upazila. Atiqul Islam, former OC of Narayanganj DB. Enamul Kabir and former OC of Sonargaon Police Station. Hafizur Rahman has also been made an accused.

In the case, Shahjahan Shibli, a supporter of Hefajat Islam, mentioned that Maulana Mamunul Haque, General Secretary of Central Hefajat Islam, came to Sonargaon with his wife for a vacation on the night of April 3, 2021.

At that time, in the conspiracy of two former MPs, with the direct and indirect help of the police administration, 100 to 150 convicts, including Ezhar's famous convicts, harassed Mamunul Haque and his wife and threw them out of the resort.

Later, around 11:30 pm, Sonargaon hefajat activist Maulana Iqbal Hossain strongly protested the harassment of Mamunul Haque and his wife at the Mograpara intersection area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway. At that time, the accused named Ezhar hit him on the head and different parts of the body with iron rods with the intention of killing him. The police arrested him while he was injured and filed a case against him and sent him to the court. At that time the police tortured him in the name of remand.

When Maulana Iqbal fell ill due to torture, he was admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital. He died on April 21, 2021 while undergoing treatment at 12 am. He also mentioned in the statement that Maulana Iqbal Hussain's family did not have the courage to file a case due to adverse circumstances at that time. As the situation is now favorable, he filed a case on behalf of his family.

Sonargaon police station OC Mohammad Abdul Bari said that a case has been registered in the police station regarding the attack on Hefajat Islami in Sonargaon.
