Int'l Day for Disaster Risk Reduction observed in Shyamnagar

With the theme “Investing in collective action to prevent disasters,” the Shyamnagar Upazila administration in Satkhira organized a rally, a discussion session and a disaster drill on Monday to mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. After circling the main roads of the upazila town, the rally concluded with a discussion held in the upazila parishad hall. The meeting, chaired by UNO Mosha: Rani Khatun, featured speeches from Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rashed Hossain; Upazila Project Implementation Officer Miraj Hossain Khan; Jamaat local leader Maulana Abdur Rahman; Bir Muktijoddha (freedom fighter) G M Osman Gani; Shyamnagar Upazila Press Club president Samiul Azam Monir; NGO Coordination Council secretary Gazi Al Imran; Shyamnagar Fire Service officer Akbar Hossain; former female vice chairman Nurjahan Parvin Jharna; sub-assistant engineer Faridul Islam; lecturer Rafsan Jani; CPP officials; UP chairmen; and various NGO representatives.
