4 injured in cylinder explosion while taking gas on bus in Noakhali

Four people were injured in a cylinder explosion while filling a gas tank in a bus in Lakshmipur in Begumganj, Noakhali. A CNG-powered auto-rickshaw and a bus were damaged during the incident.

The accident occurred at the Kendurbagh Mim CNG filling station in the upazila at around 9:15 pm on Monday. 

The injured are CNG drivers Md. Reju Mia (65), Md. Bechu Mia (26), Md. Arman (23) and filling station employee Md. Jabed Hossain (40) from Kendurbagh Bazar area of the upazila.

Police and locals said that a bus of Azad Paribahan of Lakshmipur came to the Kendurbagh Mim CNG filling station of the upazila at around 9:15 pm to get gas. At that time, while filling the bus with gas, the cylinder suddenly exploded. Four people, including three auto-rickshaw drivers, were injured in this. Initially, it is believed that the cylinder of the bus was of poor quality. Upon receiving the information, a unit of the Chaumuhani Fire Service and the police visited the scene.

Begumganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Shahriar Kamal said, the accident occurred when the bus was coming to collect gas. Later, the injured persons went to their respective homes after receiving primary treatment. The bus will be seized and taken to the police station. Further legal action will be taken if a written complaint is received.
