A human chain and protest program was held in Bogura to protest the amputation of the leg of a student named Ishtiaq Zaman Iram, who was injured in a motorcycle accident due to medical negligence and wrong treatment, and to demand the unconditional release of his 4 detained friends. Friends and relatives of the victim Iram held the program in front of the district school in Satmatha of the city on Tuesday noon. 

At the end of the human chain, Iram's relatives and friends raised four demands. Their demands are: a fair investigation into the incident, the cancellation of the licenses of the guilty doctors and ensuring justice, making the hospital free from brokers, providing financial and physical and mental health care to the victim's family, and the unconditional release of Iram's four friends who were arrested in the incident. Stating that Iram's classmates and friends were arrested on false charges despite not having committed any crime and were held without bail, the speakers demanded their early release and improved alternative medical assistance from the government to rebuild Iram's future.

Iram's cousin Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan Rajan said that Iram was taken to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMEC) Hospital after being injured in a motorcycle accident on the evening of September 16. There, an argument and scuffle broke out with the trolleyman and Ansar members in front of the emergency department over demanding additional money. He alleged that the Ansar members behaved aggressively and beat up the friends who came with the patient at the hospital. Later, the Ansar members falsely alleged that they had been stabbed, although investigation proved that they only had the bike keys with them.

Describing the medical negligence, Rajan further said that on the first day's X-ray report, the doctors reported a fracture and gave him general treatment. However, on the second day, an intern doctor quickly and forcefully pulled his leg, causing Iram to scream in pain. Then, when another X-ray was done, it was found that the ligament was torn. For two days, no proper treatment was given and he was only bandaged. Later, the duty doctor, after reviewing the report, said that the condition of the leg was critical and it may have to be amputated.

Later, when his condition deteriorated, Iram was rushed to Dhaka. After tests at the National Heart Institute and later at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital, the doctors said that there was no alternative but to amputate his leg to save his life as the infection had spread to his leg. Later, his leg was amputated through surgery.
