Locals vandalized the homes of 5 accused in the case of gang-raping a mother in front of a teenage son of an expatriate after a robbery in Gafargaon, Mymensingh. The incident took place in the Kalibari Char area of Charalgi Union of the upazila on Tuesday  morning. However, at that time, the family members of the accused were safely evacuated by local elders.

According to local residents, eyewitnesses and police sources, hundreds of angry locals in the Kalibari Char area of the upazila started vandalizing the houses of Sharif (23) and Arif (21) father Taher Uddin, accused Fahim (22) father Momin, accused Rajib (23) father Mofazzal and accused Enamul (22) father Nurur in the case of robbery, gang rape of a mother in front of her son in the house of a foreigner at around 9:30 am on Friday. The angry locals vandalized the fences and roofs of the tin houses of the accused, removed the tins and piled them next to the houses. At that time, the elders of the area were seen helping the accused to safely remove their family members and household goods. According to local sources, the locals held two rounds of discussions among themselves on Sunday and Monday evenings to demand exemplary punishment for the accused and decide what to do.

Despite the three-hour vandalism from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, the police and the police did not arrive at the scene.

Local Kabir Hossain Akand (40) said that those involved in such a shameful, shameful, and heartbreaking incident should be tried and given exemplary punishment. The angry locals vandalized the houses of the accused.

Earlier, on Thursday (September 17), a robbery took place at around 8 pm at the house of an expatriate in Char Kalibari village of Char Algi Union of the upazila. After the robbery, the robbers took the expatriate's son hostage at gunpoint, tied him up, gang-raped his mother (38) in front of the ninth-grade student, and recorded a video. In this incident, the police arrested a person named Rajib (23) at around 3 am that day.

On Friday night, the raped woman filed a case with Gafargaon Police Station accusing five people - Sharif (23), Arif (21), Fahim (22), son of Taher Uddin, son of Momin, Rajib (23), son of Mofazzal, and Nurul, son of Enamul (22) - of the Char Kalibari area.

Gafargaon Police Station OC Moniruzzaman Sheikh said, "We received information around 12:30 pm that the houses of the accused were being vandalized in the Char Kalibari area. Police were immediately sent to the scene on such information."
