Two people, including stepfather arrested on charges of raping in Longadu

Police have arrested a stepfather on charges of raping a girl and a young neighbor on charges of attempting to rape her in Longadu Upazila, Rangamati.
Police arrested them during separate raids conducted on Monday night in the Dane Atarkachhara area of Ward No. 1, Atarkachhara Union.
The arrested individuals are the accused stepfather, Fazlul Haque Chowdhury (65)—son of the late Erfan Uddin Chowdhury—and the neighbor, Shahidul (23)—son of Jamal Uddin—both from the Dane Atarkachhara area.
Once the matter became known in the area, locals informed the police. Acting on the information, the Longadu police conducted a raid and arrested Fazlul Haque Chowdhury and Shahidul.
Confirming the incident, Longadu Police Station OC Zakaria stated that the victim had been subjected to such brutal acts for a long time. Immediately after receiving the report, a police team arrested the accused stepfather and the neighbor who had attempted the rape. The accused have been sent to court following the completion of necessary legal procedures.
