US delegation calls on DU VC

A five-member delegation led by Prof. Dr. James J. Schauer of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan today January 12, 2025 at the latter’s office of the university. Other members of the delegation were Prof. Dr. Benjamin de Foy of Saint Louis University, USA, Associate Professor Jilliam Baumgartner & Martha Lee of McGill University, Canada and Amy Cass, Economic Officer of the US Embassy, Dhaka.
Dean of the Faculty of Science of DU Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam was present on this occasion.
During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interests specially the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs on air quality, public health, social equity, climate change and environment among the University of Dhaka and various universities in USA. Exchange of Visiting Professors among DU and different universities in USA was also discussed in the meeting. Besides, they discussed about conducting online classes by US Visiting Professors for DU students.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan sought cooperation from US delegation to arrange academic seminar and symposium on ‘July uprising’ under the joint auspices of Dhaka University and universities in USA.
