DU commemorates 2nd anniv of historic July Uprising

Dhaka University (DU) has launched a month-long series of events to mark the second anniversary of the historic July Mass Uprising (2024), reaffirming its commitment to building a prosperous Bangladesh rooted in democratic values, the spirit of July, and the War of Liberation.

The observances kicked off on Wednesday evening at Nawab Fayzunnesa Choudhurani Chhatri Nibas with a discussion on "July Revolution: In Respect, Honor, and Remembrance." Speaking as the chief guest,

DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Almojaddedi Alfechani highlighted DU's historical leadership in key national movements—from the 1952 Language Movement and 1971 Liberation War to the 1990 and 2024 uprisings—emphasizing that DU students must continue leading the nation's future progress.

The university-wide commemoration includes key upcoming events across campus include July 23: Discussion on "Looking Back at '24: Two Years of the July Epic" at Bijoy Ekattor Hall, July 26: Science Faculty seminar on "July Mass Uprising 2024: Aspirations of Students & Public and Future Bangladesh," featuring Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam as chief guest, July 29–31: Departmental seminars by Criminology, Disaster Science, and Persian Language, alongside candle-lighting and memorial events at Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall and Salimullah Muslim Hall and August 1–2: Memorial discussion at Amar Ekushey Hall (featuring NCP Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam) and a photography exhibition with documentary screenings at Jagannath Hall.
