Tubewell theft spree in Araihazar 7 tubewells stolen in a day

There has been a wave of tubewell theft in Araihazar, Narayanganj.
On Wednesday night, it was reported that 7 tubewells were stolen from 7 houses in the Jhaugraha (South) area of the Upazila Sadar Municipality. The tubewells belong to Bulbul, Shimul, Habibullah, Faizur Rahman, Sajowar and a speech-impaired woman named Bubi from that village.
Locals said that the tubewells are stolen by drug addicts in the area. They sell them in scrap shops located in Naikahon, Kamranirchar, Krishnapura, Marwadi areas of Araihazar Sadar.
Earlier, several stolen tubewells and various types of iron goods were recovered after police searched all those scrap shops. Local residents claim that if the police conduct regular searches in all those junk shops, many stolen goods can be found.
Araihazar Police Station OC Md. Sabzel Hossain said that the police will arrange regular searches if necessary to prevent all these thefts.
