Several mega projects mega projects like 1200 MW coal power plant and deep sea port are being implemented in Matarbari for transformation of national economy and expansion of physical infrastructure. Due to the geographical requirements of these mega-projects, many families of Matarbari have spontaneously acquired their own houses, ancestral homesteads and fertile lands. Displaced by abandoning agricultural land.

On Thursday at 11 am, the Conscious Mahal of Matarbari presented a memorandum to the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh through Maheshkhali UNO.

Moheshkhali Jan Suraksha Manch Acting President Md. Hamed Hoshain Khoka, General Secretary Maulana Muhammad Mohsin, Members Abdul Monaf, Araf Ali, Women Members Jhinuk Akhtar, Noor Ayesha, Khadija Begum, Environmentalist MA Hannan, Dainik Inqilab Moheshkhali Representative Md. Ramjan Ali, were present during the presentation of the memorandum. Kalelkanth representative Rakyat Ullah and others.

In 2019, a unanimous and important decision was taken to set up a 'Specialized Technical School and College' in Matarbari under the chairmanship of the then Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar, Md. Kamal Hossain, with the aim of future rehabilitation of the affected families and employment generation of the local youth.

In light of this decision in 2020, the project was inaugurated after the soil filling was completed on the designated land on the east side of Matarbari Bridge. Later, the then Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar, Moheshkhali UNO and several representatives of the relevant ministries visited the site and took necessary administrative steps.

Completed correspondence transactions. Despite administrative steps, no visible progress has been made so far in the construction of the proposed technical college.

It was decided to set up this specialized technical college by acquiring the land with the joint commitment of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of Bangladesh. Many questions are being raised in the public mind as to why this important public welfare project is on hold.

UNO Imran Mahmud Dalim said that the matter is very important. So it will be delivered to the honorable Prime Minister's office quickly.
