Swimming training held, saplings distributed in Natore

Md. Abdul Hakim, Natore

A local public library in Natore has launched a free swimming training program alongside a tree sapling distribution drive for local students.

The initiative was organized on Friday morning by the Abdur Rahman Public Library in the town's Tebaria area.

Under the initiative, around 20 students of varying ages will receive swimming lessons every Friday from 10:00am to 12:00pm, said Md Abdul Hakim, general secretary of the library.

Emphasising the necessity of the program, Hakim said learning to swim is an essential life skill. Beyond being an effective physical exercise, it is crucial for preventing drowning accidents in rivers, beels, and haor regions. He added that the training will continue until all local children learn to swim, with plans to expand the scope of the program if required.

Prior to the training session, over a hundred forest, fruit, and medicinal saplings were distributed among students at the Khurshidul Alam Madrasa near Natore City College.

Founder and President of Abdur Rahman Public Library Md Fazlur Rahman, Treasurer Majir Uddin Molla, Vice-President Kamal Ibn Sobuj, and Assistant Primary Education Officer Md Abdul Matin were present, among others.
