Swechchhasebak League leader killed over land dispute by AL leader in Narsingdi

Mizan Mia (45), a volunteer party leader, was killed by an Awami League leader over a land dispute in Monohardi, Narsingdi. The incident took place on Saturday afternoon in Barachapa Purbapara village of Barachapa Union of the upazila.
The deceased Mizan Mia was the son of Safur Uddin of Barachapa Purbapara, Ward No. 4 of Barachapa Union. He was the vice-president of Ward No. 4 Volunteer Party.
The accused, Shahidullah (65), is the son of Sundar Ali of the same area. He is the vice-president of Ward No. 4 Awami League and the other accused is his son Jibon Mia.
The relatives of the deceased said that Mizan and Shahidullah had been arguing over a road next to their house in Barachapa Purbapara, Ward No. 4 of Barachapa Union. Although the matter was referred to arbitration several times, Shahidullah did not accept it. On Saturday (August 1) afternoon, when Mizan went to cut a tree on the road, an argument broke out between the two parties. At that time, Shahidullah and his son Jibon Mia hit Mizan on the head with a stick. Mizan fell to the ground and people nearby ran to the spot and rescued him and took him to the Monohardi Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Dr. Khandaker Anisur Rahman, Resident Medical Officer of Monohardi Upazila Health Complex, said, "A person named Mizan was brought to the hospital dead at noon. He was declared dead after examination. The exact cause of death can be revealed in detail after the autopsy report comes."
Jahangir Badsha, OC of Monohardi Police Station, said that the murder took place due to a dispute over land between uncle and nephew. The body has been sent to the morgue of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
