The biennial election of the Executive Committee of the Silo Contractors Workers' Union, Reg. No. 2384, under the jurisdiction of EPZ Police Station in Chattogram city, has been completed on Sunday.
Boting took place from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Out of 134 registered voters, 133 cast their votes. A total of 26 candidates contested for 13 positions.
After the voting concluded, Election Commissioner Md. Munshi Mia announced the results. Md. Iqbal Hasan, symbolized by the rose, was elected president, and Md. Monirul Islam, symbolized by the inkpot and pen, was elected general secretary.

Md. Monir Hossain, Treasurer -Md. Akhtar Hossain, Md. Jewel – Organizing Secretary

Md. Babul Hossain – Publicity Secretary
Md. Masud Rana – Sports Secretary and
Md. Foyez Ali, Md . Kanchan Mia – Executive Members.
Meanwhile, on the evening before the election, May 24, Monirul Islam, the general secretary candidate, was arrested by EPZ police. On May 25, he was produced in court and subsequently sent to jail. Despite being incarcerated, he won the election by a significant margin.
