Orientation meeting of Chinese studying in DU's Bengali language programme held

An introductory meeting for Chinese students studying in the Bengali language program at the Institute of Modern Languages, Dhaka University was held on Sunday at institute's auditorium. Dhaka University Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury spoke as the chief guest at the event.
The program was presided over by Prof Mohammad Absar Kamal, Director of the Institute of Modern Languages, and was attended by Mr. Xia Daojing, Cultural Third Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, Dr. Yang Hui, Director of the Confucius Institute of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Afzal Hossain, Department of Chinese Language and Culture, Professor Dr. Abdullah Rafiq-um-Munir Chowdhury, and Professor Dr. Hosne Ara, Department of Bengali. Sharmin Sultana, Teacher of the Department of Bengali, Institute of Modern Languages, conducted the program.
Treasurer ProfDr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, referring to China as one of the largest development partners of Bangladesh, said that mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and China is increasing in various fields including education, research, trade and commerce. As a result, the issue of mutual language learning is also becoming important. He emphasized on further strengthening communication and friendly relations between the people of the two countries through language learning.
