New trust fund with Tk 60 lakh for DU financially challenged students

Anew trust fund titled ‘Jalaluddin Ahmed Chowdhury Memorial Scholarship TrustFund’ has been established at Dhaka University (DU) for providing scholarship tosome financially challenged students of different departments under the Facultyof Business Studies.
Mr. Hasan Tawfiq Chowdhury, Attorney at Law of New Zealandhanded over a cheque for Tk. 60 lac to the Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. NiazAhmed Khan today February 24, 2025 at VC’s Meeting Room of the university toset up this trust fund to perpetuate the memories of his father.Pro-ViceChancellor (Academic) of DU Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Distinguished Fellow of CPD Prof.Dr. Mustafizur Rahman and donor’s family members were present on this occasion.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan thanked the donor for his donation to set up this trust fund. Financiallychallenged students will be highly benefited by this, he hoped. He stressed theneed for strengthening relationship between DU and university alumni. He calledupon the alumni to come forward with their helping hands for financiallychallenged students.It may be mentioned that late Jalaluddin Ahmed Chowdhury was astudent of the then DU Commerce Faculty.
