Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) distributed computers, sewing machines, and mobile food carts among 97 trained women to enhance living standards and create self-employment opportunities for urban women during a ceremony held at the Nagar Bhaban on Monday afternoon.

The initiative was executed under the "Livelihoods Support for Urban Poor Communities in Bangladesh" (LSUPCB) project, implemented with technical and financial assistance from China Aid and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Following the successful completion of a three-month skill development training program and evaluation, 30 computers, 25 sewing machines, and 42 food carts were presented to qualified beneficiaries.

NCC Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan attended the distribution program as the chief guest, with NCC Chief Executive Officer Noor Kutubul Alam present as a special guest. Narayanganj City Mahila Dal President Dilara Masud Moyna, NCC Superintending Engineer Asgar Hossain, and UNDP Project Assistant Hosneara Alo were also in attendance alongside municipal officials.

Delivering the chief guest's address, NCC Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan stated that the assets were distributed to empower 97 families economically and foster self-reliance among women. He clarified that the equipment was handed over under a tripartite agreement involving the City Corporation, UNDP, and the beneficiaries, emphasizing that transferring or selling the equipment would constitute a breach of contract subject to regular monitoring.

NCC Chief Executive Officer Noor Kutubul Alam called upon the recipients to maximize the utility of the training and equipment to achieve economic solvency and contribute to their households.
