Faridpur Zila Parishad Administrator meets President : Strengthen local govt to institutionalise democracy: Fakhrul

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stressed the imperative of institutionalising democracy in Bangladesh during a courtesy meeting with administrators from 33 district councils, including Faridpur District Council Administrator Afzal Hossain Khan Palash, at Bangabhaban on Sunday afternoon.
Underscoring that a robust local government system remains the primary pillar of a functional democratic framework, the President noted that local governance institutions serve as the greatest strength of democratic nation-building, according to Presidential Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam.
Addressing the delegation, President Alamgir urged administrators to remain vigilant and proactive in eradicating the deeply entrenched corruption inherited from the previous fascist administration.
During the interaction, the visiting administrators—including Faridpur District Council Administrator Afzal Hossain Khan Palash and Madaripur District Council Administrator Khondoker Mashukur Rahman Masuk submitted a set of administrative demands to the President, including an elevation of their official rank and status.
The 33-member delegation briefed the President on regional development challenges and operational matters concerning local governance across their respectie districts.
