July Mass Uprising Day observed at GAU

With profound respect, remembrance, and a commitment to inspiring future generations with the values of freedom, justice, and humanity, Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) observed "July Uprising Day 2026".
To mark the second anniversary of the historic July Uprising of 2024, the university administration organized a day-long series of commemorative events on Wednesday.
The day's programs began at 10:00 a.m. with a voluntary blood donation campaign at the university's Medical Center. At 11:00 a.m., a painting competition was held for students of the University High School in memory of the July martyrs. Through their artwork, the young participants portrayed themes of sacrifice, patriotism, humanitarian values, and the vision of an equitable Bangladesh.
The paintings were visited and appreciated by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman.
Students also actively participated in a virtual photography contest organized to mark the occasion. Their photographs reflected memories of the July Uprising, patriotism, the aspirations of the people, and the commitment to building an egalitarian society.
Following the Zuhr prayer, a special prayer was offered at the university's central mosque, seeking eternal peace for the souls of the July martyrs and speedy recovery for those injured during the uprising. The Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Proctor, Registrar, along with teachers, students, officers, and staff, took part in the prayer.
At 3:30 p.m, a discussion meeting and memorial ceremony were held at the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium. The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman as the chief guest and chaired by Prof Dr. Mohammad Sharif Raihan, Director of Student Welfare.
Among those present were Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Jahidur Rahman, Treasurer ProfDr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad, deans of various faculties, directors, the proctor, registrar, department heads, as well as teachers, students, officers, and employees of the university.
Speeches were also delivered by Prof Dr. Nasrin Akter Ivy, President of the Teachers' Association; Prof Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam, General Secretary of the Teachers' Association; Senior Prof Dr. Md. Abu Ashraf Khan; and Registrar Md. Abdullah Mridha
The Vice-Chancellor later distributed prizes among the winners of the painting competition.
Prof Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman said, the sacrifice of the martyrs of the July Uprising is not merely a chapter of history; it is an enduring source of our conscience, courage, and sense of responsibility.
