Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that the long march from Dhaka to Rangpur will start on September 19, 2026. He sought the large presence of the people of the Rangpur region of Rangpur division to make this long march a success.

At a crowded press conference organized at the Rangpur Metropolitan Office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at 11:30 am on Thursday, Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, “To implement the July Charter, the 11-party alliance including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will organize long marches across the country and will start the long march towards Rangpur from September 19, 2026. We seek the full cooperation of the media workers to make this long march a success.”

He expressed regret that before the elections, all of us, including the BNP, had sought the people’s vote for a referendum for state reforms. The people voted in favor of the parliamentary elections and the referendum. But the ruling BNP government has forgotten that.

He harshly criticized the government and said, “Now, no fertilizer is available even at higher prices, load shedding of electricity is at an extreme level, law and order has deteriorated to the extreme. The government should work on an urgent basis to alleviate this suffering of the people.”

You said, “In the last election, the BNP had promised that if elected, they would give a country free of corruption, free of partisanship and free of discrimination. But they have forgotten that promise and are engaging in extreme partisanship. There is no place in the administration where they are not engaging in partisanship. They have installed their own people in a government, private, semi-government, autonomous institution.”

They have set an extreme example of partisanship by installing people from their own party in various city corporations, district councils, and various development authorities of the country. In this case, no rules or policies have been followed.

Mia Golam Parwar expressed his regret, saying, “They say, Bangladesh comes first but now we see BNP comes first.”

He complained to the government that the government has given the responsibility of supervising the activities of the elected opposition MPs to the MPs of the government party's reserved women's seats, which is completely against the constitution.

Mia Golam Parwar said that we have been agitating inside and outside the parliament for six months in favor of the July Charter. A part of this movement is the Long march. He expressed hope that there will be a large gathering of people to make this Long March towards Rangpur a success.
