A human chain and protest rally has been held in Amtali demanding the arrest and trial of those involved in the suicide of businessman Niaz Morshved's son in Amtali.

On Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., an hour-long human chain program was held at the Upazila Parishad premises. Thousands of people participated in this human bond.

Amtali police station OC Md. Ariful Islam Arif said that Niaz Morshved Tayan has been arrested as a suspect of incitement to suicide. Efforts are on to arrest the other accused. It is known that six years ago, Niyaz Morshved Tanay, son of businessman Alhaj Nannu Molla, resident of Gurdal village of Haldia Union of Amtali Upazila, got married to Faria Jannati Meem, daughter of Farooq Gazi, resident of Chawra Chalabhanga village, another businessman.

After six months of marriage, husband Tanoy came to know that his wife Meem had another marriage. There is conflict between husband and wife. The couple has a daughter at home. Meanwhile, his wife Faria Jannati Meem is involved in an extramarital affair with a son named Tarek Hasan Bahadur. She (Meem) is traveling around different places with an estranged lover and is making Tik Tok videos and promoting them on social media.

Angered by this, Tanay divorced his wife Meem on September 24. On October 17 after receiving the divorce notice, Meem filed a dowry case against her husband Niaz Morshved Tanay in the Barguna Women and Child Abuse Prevention Court. The police arrested Tanay that day. Tanay was in jail for 11 days in this case. Wife Faria Jannati Meem and her cronies used to bully and harass husband Tanay in various ways. In this, Niam Morshved broke down mentally. As a result, he decided to commit suicide. Unable to bear the bullying and harassment of his estranged wife and his family members, Tanay poisoned his wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law and relatives by posting on social media in the early hours of November 29. Within moments his status went viral on social media. He passed away at Dhaka Shaheed Sohrawadi Medical College Hospital on November 30. In this incident, Tanay's elder sister, Advocate Tanya Akhter, filed a case in Amtali police station on December 5, accusing Tanay's wife Faria Jannati Meem as the main accused of inciting suicide in the name of 12 people.

The same night the police arrested Meem's elder brother accused Khalid Ghazi. An hour-long human chain program was held at the Upazila Parishad premises at 10:30 on Wednesday to demand the arrest and trial of those involved in Tanay's suicide. Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate court lawyer Md Arif ul Hasan Arif presided over the mannabandha, son's father Alhaj Md Nannu Molla and elder sister Tanya Akhtar, the plaintiff lawyer of the case, spoke in the human band. Thousands of people from different categories of professions of the upazila participated in the standardization.

Plaintiff lawyer Tanya Akhter alleged that the defendants are threatening to kill me to withdraw the case. They are threatening to kidnap me and my daughter if I don't withdraw the case. He demanded the arrest of the accused quickly.
