Thousands of people demand arrest, punishment of notorious drug lord Zia in Satkhira

Satkhira has gone into a frenzy, strongly condemning the barbaric and brutal attack on innocent citizens protesting against the open drug trade in the area.
A huge human chain has been formed demanding the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of identified drug traffickers, extortionists and terrorists, including Ziaur Rahman Zia, and his gang.
This human chain was organized in front of Satkhira Press Club on Friday morning under the banner of people from all walks of life of Brahmarajpur Union No. 9. Under the chairmanship of Brahmarajpur Union BNP President MA Hasan and the smooth conduct of Md. Rashidul Islam, the human chain was addressed by Maulana Fazle Rabbi, Imam of Dahakula Baitur Mamur Jame Mosque, prominent social worker Md. Ajmal Hossain, Ward No. 4 BNP President Md. Sirajul Islam, Secretary of Law College Student Forum Md. Abul Hasan, Joint Convener of Union Jubo Dal Md. Inchap Ali and former UP member Md. Hatem Ali and many others.
The speakers at the human chain expressed their anger and said that on the afternoon of September 9, local conscious citizens strongly protested against the open sale of drugs by notorious drug dealers Ziaur Rahman Zia, Fahim, Hafizul and Faruk in Brahmarajpur Bazar. Enraged by this, Zia and his terrorist force attacked innocent residents of the area Zakir Hossain and Abdul Quader with sharp weapons to carry out a brutal and planned murder. They are currently fighting for their lives at Satkhira Sadar Hospital, severely bleeding and dying from the attack.
The speakers expressed their anger and said that Zia, son of Azimuddin of Dahakula village, is a known top drug and yaba dealer. He, his brother Hafizul and his two sons Fahim and Naeem have been establishing a reign of terror in the entire area at the hands of weapons for a long time. During the previous fascist government, this Zia was an open agent of the police. After the change of political scene, he changed colors like a chameleon and became a supporter of BNP overnight. Not only that, he is illegally embezzling government resources and foundation money using the fake identity of 'Zia Foundation'. He even openly boasts that he receives regular allowances from the Zia Foundation!
The speakers further alleged that Zia and his armed terrorist force are constantly extorting huge illegal extortions from ordinary traders in Dhulihar Bazar and the surrounding areas by intimidating them. They are openly threatening to close down the business establishments if they refuse to pay the extortion.
Thousands of people present at the human chain drew the sharp attention of the law enforcement agencies and the district administration, saying that these violent and anti-social accused should be arrested immediately and brought to justice. Otherwise, the general public will be forced to take to the streets and organize more stringent programs like road blockades to ensure their safety and make the area drug-free.
Hundreds of ordinary people from all walks of life in Brahmarajpur and Dhulihar unions spontaneously participated in the human chain with banners and festoons in hand.
