Members of robbery gang active in airport area arrested, huge goods recovered in Gobindaganj

The District Detective Branch (DB) of Gopalganj has arrested a member of an airport-based robbery gang along with a large amount of stolen goods during a raid in Muksudpur Upazila of Gopalganj.
The arrested person is Alamin Sheikh (31), a resident of Purba Maharajpur village of the upazila and son of Kalam Sheikh. He was arrested during a raid at his house on Thursday afternoon.
Police Superintendent Md. Habibullah gave this information at a press conference held at the conference room of the Gopalganj Police Superintendent's office at 7:30 pm on Thursday.
The Superintendent of Police said that a Chinese axe, two switch gear knives, three iPhones of different models, a total of 15 mobile phones, 11 wallets, banknotes of 77 currencies of different countries and 179,000 taka in Bangladeshi currency were recovered from Alamin.
Initial investigations have revealed that he may have been involved in theft and robbery in various places including the airport area of the capital for a long time. Police said there are a total of six cases against him in various police stations related to banditry and drugs.
The process of taking legal action in this incident is ongoing.
Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Kazi Humayun Rashid, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Crime) Hasanur Rahman, DB Officer-in-Charge Nayan Chandra Debnath and Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sirajul Islam were present at the press conference.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, DB police arrested a female drug dealer with 800 pieces of Yaba from Harishchar area of Muksudpur upazila. The market value of the recovered Yaba is around Tk 240,000, police said.
