PM's Politicsl Assistant Rashed Khan in Jhenaidah:: AL finding courage to stage street processions through  secret understanding with Jamaat

Tarek Mahmud Joy,   Jhenaidah

Rashed Khan, the Political Assistant to the Prime Minister, has remarked that a secret understanding or collusion with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami might lie behind the controversial protest processions staged by the banned organization Awami League in various parts of the country, including the capital's Gulshan area. He alleged that the cohorts of the fascism—which had been ousted from the streets—are daring to stage 'flash processions' by exploiting Jamaat's favorable stance and secret lines of communication.

He made these remarks on Saturday  while joining virtually the inauguration ceremony of the government's three-month-long special dengue prevention awareness program organized by the Jhenaidah district administration, and subsequently while answering journalists' questions at a press briefing following a rally.

Recalling historical political events, Rashed Khan said, "This duplicity by Jamaat-e-Islami is nothing new. Back in 1996, they employed the same tactics, joining hands with the Awami League to create instability against the then-BNP government. And now, too, the oppressive Awami League is gathering the courage to return to the streets by taking advantage of Jamaat's mysteriously lenient attitude."

Criticizing the statements made by Jamaat leaders, he added, "Jamaat's top leadership claims they have no objection if the Awami League returns to politics! However, we want to state clearly—the general public of this country will never again accept the Awami League, an entity that bears the stigma of the misrule, genocide, and autocracy of the past 15 years."

Highlighting the backdrop of the united movement, this political leader—a vanguard of the mass uprising—stated, “From the anti-autocracy movement of 1990 to the historic student-led mass uprising of 2024, thousands of leaders and activists from the BNP and its affiliated organizations have shed their blood on the streets in every democratic struggle.

A three-month-long public awareness rally aimed at eradicating dengue, organized by the Jhenaidah district administration, paraded through the town's main thoroughfares. Rashed Khan was joined in the program by senior leaders and activists from the BNP and its affiliated organizations. Also present were Jhenaidah District BNP President M.A. Majid, Vice-President Munshi Kamal Azad Pannu, Shop Owners' Association President Anwarul Islam Badsha, Joint Secretary Abdul Majid Biswas, as well as representatives from the district administration and local civil society.
