Govt betrayed nation by not implementing July Charter : Maulana Abdul Halim
Md. Mafiz Uddin Sarker, Rangpur
Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Director for the Rangpur-Dinajpur region, said, on this day, October 17, 2025, 25 political parties including the current ruling party—had collectively signed the 'July Charter.'
He remarked that after assuming power, they broke the trust of the nation by failing to implement the charter they had pledged to uphold.
He made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at day-long conferences for Rukons (Members), organized separately by the Rangpur District and Metropolitan branches of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the local Zila Parishad Community Center on Saturday.
The morning session for the Rangpur District members was presided over by District Ameer and MP for the Rangpur-5 (Mithapukur) constituency, Prof Golam Rabbani. The afternoon session for the Rangpur Metro members was presided over by Central Working Committee member and Metro Ameer, Vice-Principal Maulana ATM Azom Khan.
Both conferences were attended by, among others, Prof Maulana Raihan Siraji MP for the Rangpur-1 (Gangachara) constituency and Metro Assistant Secretary—along with Metro Secretary KM Anwarul Haque Kajol, Rangpur District Secretary Maulana Enamul Haque and Metropolitan Assistant Secretary Al-Amin Hasan.
He recalled that the founder of Jamaat, Maulana Maududi (RA), was once brought to the gallows. In Bangladesh, 11 individuals—including the martyred Ameer-e-Jamaat Maulana Motiur Rahman Nizami—were executed while in the custody of oppressors. Between 2011 and 2024, 11 members were martyred in 'crossfire' incidents. In Rangpur, 12 individuals, including the martyred Maulana Ataur Rahman Hamidi, were killed, while in Jhenaidah district, 18 members lost their lives.
He said, “By establishing the way of Allah on this land, we shall seek retribution for all that blood Insha'Allah.
