The first-ever 'Bangladesh-China Tea Summit-2025' will take place in Sylhet, a collaborative initiative of the Chinese Corner at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
The summit is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on May 20 at the university's new Social Science Building. Registration will remain open until May 5, with a fee of Tk 2000. Dr. Md. Shahabul Haque, Coordinator of the Chinese Corner and Professor in the university's Political Studies Department, confirmed this on Sunday (April 27).
Professor Dr. Md. Shahabul Haque stated, 'There are about 150 tea gardens in Sylhet, Moulvibazar, and Habiganj. Through this summit, a link will be established between tea traders in these areas and Chinese tea traders. This is a big opportunity for tea garden owners, entrepreneurs, and exporters in Bangladesh and China. This is the first such initiative in Sylhet. This opportunity should be utilized.' According to the organizing committee, the Bangladesh-China Tea Summit will occur on May 20 under the theme 'Bangladesh-China Tea Trade and Cooperation Development' to strengthen tea trade and cooperation between Bangladesh and China. Twelve tea traders and entrepreneurs from China will participate in the summit. By attending, domestic tea traders will have the opportunity to directly showcase their products to Chinese entrepreneurs and importers, helping them gain a realistic understanding of the potential of Bangladeshi tea in the Chinese market.
