
DU VC Prof Niaz Ahmed to Alumni: Unite beyond political divides for University’s development

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan has called upon alumni to rise above political divisions and work unitedly for the development of the university. He made the call today, Saturday while inaugurating the Pahela Baishakh Reunion organised by the Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA) at the Teacher-Student Centre.
“Political divisions have harmed us in many ways,” the VC said. “Now is the time to move beyond all divides following the students’ uprising, and collectively work for the betterment of the university.”
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by DUAA Convener Shamsuzzaman Dudu, with Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, and Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed among the attendees. DUAA Member Secretary ATM Abdul Bari Danny conducted the event.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan noted that in recent times, the activities and engagement of the Dhaka University Alumni Association have significantly increased. Alumni have been contributing in various ways to volunteer-driven and developmental initiatives at the university. Expressing optimism, he said he believes the university will advance further with their dynamic involvement.
“We are going through a transitional period,” the VC added. “In such times, fostering unity is vital, and gatherings like these can play an effective role in that effort.”
