Family appeals to bring body of expatriate who died in Saudi Arabia

The helpless family has sought the intervention of the Prime Minister and the ambassadors of the two countries to bring back the body of expatriate worker Abu Said (25), a resident of Patnitala, Naogaon, who died in Saudi Arabia.

It is learned that Abu Said, the only son of Abu Taleb and Sahera Bibi of Helenchadangi village in Patichra union of the upazila, died of a heart attack in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on August 23. Later, on August 25, cousin Mehedi Hasan filed a written application on behalf of the family to the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, seeking the government's intervention to bring back the body of the expatriate.

Abu Said's wife Karima Khatun said, "My husband died while abroad, burdened with debt. I request the government's intervention to bring back the body and earnestly appeal to the concerned authorities to waive off the debt."

Relatives, including Abu Said's parents and only daughter Samiratun Jannat (11), are pleading to see his body one last time. They have sought the intervention of the Prime Minister and the Ambassador to provide necessary assistance to bury him in his homeland.

Nadib Juhi Al-Shafi, General Secretary of the Naogaon District Committee of the Youth Rights Council, has stood by the helpless family to bring back the body of the Saudi worker. He expressed his condolences to the helpless family for patience in bringing back the body quickly. In this regard, he has requested Mr. Md. Nurul Haque (Nur), State Minister of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.
