English language proficiency is not just a requirement for engineering students in Bangladesh, but also a skill. This article examines the strong arguments for why English language proficiency is essential for Bangladeshi engineering students.First of all, conferences, research publications, and international academic journals are primarily conducted in English. Students must be able to access and understand English-language information in order to stay up to date on the most recent developments in engineering. Gaining proficiency in the language allows one to access a broad global knowledge base and promotes a deeper comprehension of innovative technologies and processes.Secondly, creativity in an interconnected world depends on collaboration. Engineering students in Bangladesh can actively participate in worldwide collaborations, share ideas, and contribute to global engineering projects when they speak English. Strong professional networks are created through proficient English communication, and these networks open doors to international job prospects, joint ventures, and cooperative research.Furthermore, English has been designated as the official business language by numerous global corporations. English language proficiency is frequently required in order to get hired by these businesses. Proficiency in English gives engineers a distinct advantage in the employment market since it allows them to interact with stakeholders, clients, and coworkers from a variety of linguistic backgrounds. Furthermore, a large number of globally recognized online learning platforms and esteemed universities use English as their primary medium of instruction.
