Drug dens destroyed in Goalimandra Bede Community in Louhajang

Munshiganj (South) Correspondent

The Goalimandra Bede Community in Louhajang Upazila, Munshiganj, was known as a major center for drug trafficking. Despite several anti-drug operations by law enforcement, drug trading and use continued openly. Drug dealers had set up small tents for users, attracting addicts from different districts to consume drugs without any trouble.

The area had also become a hub for buying and selling stolen goods, including items from thefts, robberies, and snatchings. Criminals sold stolen items to drug dealers for cash or drugs, making the area more crime-prone.

Recently, a strong crackdown by the authorities disrupted this illegal network. Last week, a joint team led by Louhajang Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Nesar Uddin raided the area, arrested 18 drug dealers, and seized a large amount of illegal drugs.

After the operation, local people took action. On Thursday afternoon, they started a movement against drugs and promised to resist. They demolished several drug dens and tents, showing that fighting drugs is not just the job of the police but also the duty of every aware citizen.

This effort has been praised by many. Locals believe their work to build a drug-free society is a great example. They hope that if everyone works together, a healthy, safe, and drug-free society can be created.
