With the theme “I am a girl child, I dream, I fight with courage, I work for the welfare of the country,” Girl Child Day was celebrated in Betagi of Barguna.
On Wednesday noon, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Upazila Parishad, organized by the Upazila Administration and the Office of the Women Affairs Officer. The meeting was presided over by the Upazila Women Affairs Officer Afroza Sultana.
UNO)l Harekrishna Adhikari attended the meeting as the chief guest, while Betagi Upazila BNP Convener Humayun Kabir Mallik, Officer-in-Charge of Betagi Police Station Md. Moniruzzaman, Member Secretary of Betagi Municipal BNP Mizanur Rahman Khan, Principal of Betagi Girls' School and College Md. Shahin, Upazila Jamaat Secretary Shahahat Hossain Munna, journalists Saidul Islam Montu, Mehedi Hasan Koel, and others were present as special guests. Adolescent girls also took part in the event.
Speakers said that everyone must work together to ensure the education and rights of girl children.
