Dimla Holds National Fisheries Week inaugurated

With the slogan “A Self-Reliant Country Through Fish Production, Bangladesh First,” the National Fisheries Week 2026 inauguration, discussion meeting, and award ceremony for successful fish farmers and entrepreneurs were held in Dimla, Nilphamari.
The program was organized on Sunday morning at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom by the Upazila Administration and Upazila Fisheries Office.
The chief guest was Professor Maulana Abdus Sattar, Member of Parliament for Nilphamari-1 and Ameer of Nilphamari District Jamaat-e-Islami.
He emphasized increasing modern and planned fish farming by utilizing Dimla’s rivers, canals, wetlands, and other water bodies. He also stressed the production of fish fry, conservation of indigenous fish species, establishment of fish sanctuaries, and integrated fish-rice farming to increase farmers’ incomes.
Among those who addressed the event were Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Imranuzzaman, leaders of different political parties, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mir Hasan Al-Banna, Fisheries Officer Mamunur Rashid, Assistant Land Officer Rowshan Kabir, and Officer-in-Charge of Dimla Police Station Shawkat Ali Sarker.
