The freedom fighters of the district held a press conference condemning and protesting against the illegal approval of the Jhenaidah District Command by the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council.

The press conference was organized at the Jhenaidah Bar Association building on Saturday afternoon.

The written statement was read out at the press conference by freedom fighter SM Mashiur Rahman, Principal of Jhenaidah Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Law College. At that time, many freedom fighters including brave freedom fighters Md. Abdul Alim, Golam Mostafa Lotan, Md. Rezaul Islam, Md. Israil Hossain, Siddiqur Rahman and Liaquat Ali were present.

It was mentioned in the press conference that even though the government of the country has changed, "the freedom fighters who have risked their lives to liberate the country are being cheated. We will not accept any attempt to question the Freedom Fighters' Association through conspiracy."
It was alleged that on July 5, a clear decision was made at the Central Command Council meeting that the district command should be formed with highly trained freedom fighters. Where there will be multiple committees, it was said that the committee should be formed based on the opinion of the freedom fighters through compromise or in the presence of central leaders. In addition, there were instructions to exclude close associates of the previous government or illegal beneficiaries. But the freedom fighters alleged that the Jhenaidah district command was formed ignoring these instructions.
The complaint claimed that none of the three, Convener No. 1, Joint Convener No. 2 and Member Secretary of the approved committee, are highly trained freedom fighters. Rather, they were close to the previous government and enjoyed illegal privileges.

Besides, although four committees were submitted by the district, the three proposed committees were secretly approved by a panel without informing anyone. The son of the convener of the announced committee is the member secretary of the Muktijoddha Sontan Command controlled by the previous fascist government.

In addition, six out of the 11 members of the announced committee have resigned, as a result of which the committee formed has no validity. At the press conference, the freedom fighters warned, “The current district command is illegal.

This committee must be immediately abolished and a new committee must be formed based on the opinions of the freedom fighters in the presence of the central leaders.

Otherwise, the Central Command Council will have to bear the responsibility for any situation.
