World Teachers' Day was celebrated on Sunday in Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh district with various programmes.

The Day is celebrated every year on October 5. The role of a teacher holds profound importance in our lives, and they play a very important role in shaping students’ career, right from the childhood.

On this occasion, Gouripur Upazila Administration organized a colourful rally in the morning. The rally began from the Gouripur Upazila Parishad premises, paraded through the main streets of the town, and concluded at the Upazila Parishad premises. Teachers, students, journalists, distinguished guests from various educational institutions, and representatives of social and cultural organizations participated in the rally.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad Amtala Chottar with UNO Afia Amin Pappa in the chair.

AC (Land) and Administrator of Gouripur Pourashava Sunanda Sarkar Proma,  Gouripur Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Shahadat Hossain,   Head Teacher of Gouripur R.K Government High School Md. Mukchedur Rahman, Head Teacher of Dr M. R. Karim High School Md. Saiful Islam, Head Teacher of Nurul Amin Khan High School Md. Azizul Haque, among others, also spoke. Upazila Academic Superviser Komol Kumar Roy presented the keynote paper at the discussion

Speakers at the meeting said, "Teachers are the architects of nation-building. It is through their hands that society is enlightened with knowledge, morality, and humanity. Teachers not only teach lessons; they guide future generations on the right path."

Speakers further stated that the role of teachers is crucial in ensuring quality education. They emphasized that proper respect, fair opportunities, and modern training for teachers are essential demands of the time.
