Sharifuzzaman Chowdhury Topon, the first joint secretary of United Kingdom BNP and former general secretary of Moulvibazar District Chhatra Dal, the plaintiff in the case filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the International Court for the crime of genocide, has returned to his native Kulaura after almost 13 years on Monday noon.

Two hundred people from different areas including his birthplace Ghaghtia village and leaders of Youth and Chhatra Dal welcomed him at Luaihini tea garden area with a motor cycle procession.

At 2 o'clock at Kulaura Station Choumuhani, the people of the area and the leaders and activists of Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal greeted him with flowers in response to the reception.

Sharifuzzaman Chowdhury Topon said, why I could not come to the country for more than a long time, I passed this judgment to the people of Kulaura. If you ever get a chance you will judge this. Our only crime is that we have spoken against Dictator Sheikh Hasina at home and abroad. No more crime. We are not idolaters; we are children of this soil, brought up in this soil.

We have spoken against our crime lords; we have spoken in the international arena against one-party rule. In 2014, I filed a case against Sheikh Hasina, the then army chief Aziz, RAB DG and five people in the international court. Because of that case and the ban of the Sheikh Hasina government, my place of birth I could not come to Kulaura and my country. After the death of my father and younger brother journalist Chayan Zaman, I was not allowed to come to the country to bury their bodies. But today Sheikh Hasina is forced to flee the country like a thief. Awami League has entered the hole. But we are sons of this soil, we return to this soil.
