Md. HaSan Al Mamun, Dighinala (Khagrachhari)

An informal courtesy meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India's Border Security Force (BSF) at the battalion commander level was held along the Dighinala border in Khagrachhari. . 

The meeting discussed several important issues, including border killings, prevention of illegal infiltration, barbed-wire fencing and construction of infrastructure within 150 yards of the international boundary.

The meeting took place on Tuesday  from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon in the area of responsibility of Babuchhara Battalion (7 BGB) in Khagrachhari. Representatives of both countries attended the meeting near International Border Main Pillar No. 2278, within the area of responsibility of North Lakkachhara BOP. 

Lieutenant Colonel Ishtiaq Ahmed Ibn Riaz, SPP, Commanding Officer of Babuchhara Battalion (7 BGB), led the Bangladesh delegation. On the Indian side, the delegation was led by Commandant Shri Piyush Kumar of the 154 and 173 BSF Battalions. Senior officials, company commanders and other personnel from both forces were also present.

According to a press release issued by Babuchhara Battalion (7 BGB), the meeting discussed in detail the prevention of border killings, illegal infiltration, border security and various existing issues between the two countries.

The BGB firmly reiterated that no form of killing along the border is acceptable. It urged the BSF to apprehend anyone crossing the international border illegally and hand them over to the relevant authorities through legal procedures. 

The meeting also highlighted the progress of border security activities undertaken by Babuchhara Battalion. 

Both sides agreed to maintain peace, stability and a cordial atmosphere along the border.
