He further said, "If we do not accept the July Charter, the situation will be the same as in 1996. We will have to accept it later with a heavy heart. The people will not speak out. We do not want violence. Workers can protest with just demands. That does not mean they should be killed. We are in favor of just demands."
On Friday afternoon, Maulana Abdul Halim, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur Region, spoke as the chief guest at the oath-taking ceremony at Al-Helal Academy at the direction of District Secretary Maulana Antazul Islam and chaired by Principal Maulana Abdus Sattar.
Rangpur-Dinajpur region team member Prof Mahbubur Rahman Belal MP spoke as a special guest.
Also present in the meeting were MP from Nilphamari-2 Constituency Al Farooq Abdul Latif. MP from Nilphamari-3 constituency Maulana Obaidullah Salafi, MP from Nilphamari-4 Abdul Muntakim, district and upazila leaders.
