Dacoity in 5 offices in Chandanaish Upazila Parishad on same night
Dacoity has been committed in five government offices in Chandanaish Upazila Parishad Complex in Chattogram on the same night.
On Thursday night, the miscreants broke the locks of the offices and removed important components (motherboards) from eight computers.
It is learnt that a computer and 4,500 taka kept in a cupboard were stolen from the cooperative office located on the ground floor of the Upazila Parishad building, one from the Upazila Digital Center and Lab on the same floor, four from the LGED office on the second floor, and one each from the Project Implementation Office and Agriculture Office located on the third and fourth floors. Later, the miscreants mysteriously left the stolen goods in a room of the old court building next to the computers.
When the UNO came to know about the matter on Friday afternoon, he immediately inspected the spot. Chandanaish Police Station OC SM Didarul Alam Sikder was with him at the time.
After inspecting the scene, the OC said that necessary evidence has been found. Legal action will be taken after analyzing the CCTV footage.
UNO Md. Abdur Rahman has described the incident as planned and conspiratorial. The incident has raised concerns about the security of government offices in the Upazila Parishad. Those concerned have demanded that those involved in the theft be identified and brought to justice as soon as possible.
