Betagi Paura Krishak Dal Secretary among 6 arrested with Yaba, ganja

Police have arrested six individuals, including Mostafizur Rahman alias Sohel Khan, general secretary of the Betagi paurashava unit of Krishak Dal, for allegedly selling Yaba and cannabis (ganja) during a special operation in Barguna's Betagi upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Betagi Police Station Sub-Inspector Md. Nazrul Islam conducted a special raid on Sunday night and apprehended the suspects red-handed with narcotics.
The arrestees are Mostafizur Rahman alias Sohel Khan (39), general secretary of Betagi Paurashava Krishak Dal and son of Shahidul Haque Khan from Ward 1; Shahjada Molla (30), son of Shahjalal Molla from Ward 8 of Betagi paurashava; Morshed (18), son of Kuddus Sikdar from Keorabunia village in Betagi sadar union; Saiful Islam (18), son of Hiru Howlader from South Betagi in Betagi sadar union; Belal Khan (35), son of Hanif Khan from Hosnabad union; and Zahirul Islam (29), son of Joynal Hossain from Kharakanda in Betagi town.
According to police sources, the raid yielded 10 pieces of Yaba tablets, 100 grams of cannabis, drug-selling paraphernalia, and a knife. The detainees were forwarded to the Barguna court on Monday morning.
Betagi Police Station OC Md. Harun-Or-Rashid Howlader said, a strict "zero tolerance" policy is maintained against narcotics. Following secret information, the drive successfully nabbed six individuals with Yaba, cannabis, and a sharp knife, he said, adding that such rigorous and regular police operations will continue to rid society of drugs.
