State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj on Wednesday  announced that artificial intelligence (AI) based training will be arranged for primary school teachers to enhance their technology-driven skills.

"The future of education is technology-driven. However, to ensure the best use of technology, teachers must be skilled. For this reason, training on AI and modern educational technology will be organized for primary teachers," the State Minister said while addressing as the chief guest at a global dialogue titled 'Empowering Teachers in Low-Resource Classrooms to Co-Design EdTech for Student-Centered Learning' in New York on Tuesday.

 The event was held at Education House at UNGA 81 as part of the primary program of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Emphasizing the role of educators, the State Minister noted that technology is never a substitute for a teacher, but rather an effective tool to enhance a teacher's capacity. He stressed the need for proper technology integration to make student learning more effective and inclusive, particularly in low-resource classrooms.

The panel discussion was attended by Dr. Ahmed Mohamed, State Minister for Education, Higher Education and Skills Development of Maldives; Alex Wong, Senior Advisor of Strategic Engagement and Initiatives at the Office of the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU); and Borhene Chakroun, Director of Policies and Lifelong Learning Systems Division at UNESCO.

Later, the State Minister attended another event as the chief guest organized by the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York, titled 'From Classroom to Economy: Modernizing Bangladesh’s Education and Skills–Turning Learning into Jobs, Enterprise and Economic Strength'.
